Q. What is the inventory?
A. The inventory lists every item you own in SL. Your inventory will grow very quickly! It is definitely wise to file items as you get them, don’t leave it till later! (Keep an eye out for Inventory Control classes at SLLC) 

Q. How can I change my ‘look’.
A. There are many ways to customise your avatar. The simplest is probably to get some freebie clothes, or buy some if you’re feeling flush! There are some clothes provided by the Lindens, in the Library folder

Q. I just bought a box, where are my clothes?!
A. Yes, we’ve all worn a box on our arm Freebies and purchased items will sometimes come in a box. In order to get at the items inside, you need to drag the box from your inventory on to the ground. Then right click the box and select Open. Then click on Copy to Inventory. You will have to be somewhere you can build to do this – try the learning centre sandbox.

Q. How do I build in SL?
A. That’s simple – come to SLLC and take as many classes as possible, you will save yourself a lot of Lindens building your own items. For classes,  hit the search tab at the bottom of your screen and click the Events tab on the window that appears. Click the Category drop list towards the middle and select Education. Click search now to get a list of all upcoming classes. You the filter edit field to narrow down the search.

Q. How many prims can I link at once?
A. The maximum number of prims you can link into one object is 256. If the object is a vehicle, or physical, the maximum is 31 – including the driver! 

Q. Is there a limit on the distance between prims I can link?
A. Maximum distance for prims is thirty meters in any dimension. 

Q. How do I make a sculpted prim?
A. Sculpted prims are created outside of SL in any number of 3D drawing applications. Rokuro is a free lathe based generator and easy to use, a good place to start. The other end of the spectrum is Maya, a professional modelling tool. 

Q. How to do I get Lindens?
A. There are many ways to earn money in SL, depending on your skills. For example you can earn money dancing, as a builder, or start your own business. 

Q. How do I find a place to live?
A. There are lots of places to rent in SL, just use the search tab to find them. You can also buy land and build yourself an island! There are also places that offer accommodation to young avatars free. 

Q. How do I start a business?
A. There are many different types of business in SL: for instance you could sell the items you make, open a club (there is a lot of dancing in SL), or buy and sell land. You may need to buy land, or maybe just rent a space to sell a few items in a vendor.

Q. How do I buy land?
A. There is always land for sale in SL. You can use the SL website to see what land is being auctioned, or you can use the search bar in World. In World, click the search button at the bottom of your screen, then click on the Land Sales tab. You can set filters for the sort of land you are looking for, and price range of course. These are small selection of questions that we get asked all the time.
